Running at the Hochkönigkrone

Speed Trail

On the 22.77km Speed Trail with 1080+ elevation gain, all participants circle Maria Alm and are just a breath away from the high walls of the Skyrace. With a cut-off time of 6 hours, the Speed Trail is just as suitable for recreational runners as it is for real speed enthusiasts, who we can expect to see in the Hochkönigkrone Arena after around 1:30 hours. Immediately after the start, the Natrun with its approximately 400+ elevation gain must be conquered, followed by a brisk single trail to Rohrmoos, the refreshment point and roughly halfway point of the race. The leisurely and gently ascending single trail is interrupted by a tough and steep forest road, which leads to the next refreshment point at the foot of the Griesbachgraben. A lot of strength and motivation are needed to make it through the last 300+ elevation gain through the steep, demanding and dried-up riverbed surrounded by the vertical walls of the Hochkönig. Rewarded by a unique atmosphere and the trumpets of glory behind us, after a short climb we head towards the finish and the finisher's beer.
