Burning thighs guaranteed at the Skyrace

Skyrace

The Skyrace, with its 34.9km and 2816+ meters, is guaranteed to give you a burning leg. It was not only Austria's first Skyrace in 2018, but is also the only race in the Skyrunner World Series. Steep, technical, and highly demanding, the Skyrace requires fast legs, no fear of heights, surefootedness on climbing sections, and excellent fitness. A race for the best under the Hochkönig sun.

Leaving the Hochkönigkrone Arena, one steep section follows the next. High up to the Riemannhaus with its rope-secured passages, the use of the hands becomes a great help. Well-fortified, a technical section follows via Schönegg and an exposed ridge run to the Wurmkopf, followed by a brisk descent over exposed terrain into the Steinernes Meer. At a brisk pace and with a strong tailwind, the skyrunners cross the sea of burning "legs" and suck every last drop of energy from their legs with the very technical downhill over the 40-degree flank of the Buchauerscharte. Relieved, arriving in Rohrmoos, the next highlight awaits their battered bodies with the next steep climb through wonderful forest trails. Before the Hochkönigkrone Heroes begin the final steep downhill to the finish line, they straighten their crown on a leisurely flow trail so that they don't look completely battered before facing the faces of the thousands of spectators.
